The Lake County Public Library Staff Association recently held a “Dress Down Day” whereby any staff member who participated chipped in $1.00 to wear casual clothing and jeans for the day. The group raised funds to be contributed to the Community Cancer Research Foundation towards ovarian cancer research in pursuit of eradicating ovarian cancer. This branch is located at 3491 West 41st Avenue in Gary, Indiana. Staff members who coordinated the event were Melissa Boothe, Cassandra Cano and Ruth Litherland. The Community Cancer Research Foundation is deeply grateful for the contribution and these funds will be used towards ovarian cancer research.

A donation of $1777.75 was received from the 40+ Touring Riders via Judith and Joe Buchholz to support Cancer Research. Both Judith and Joe are cancer survivors.

A local 4-H group
A local 4-H group, Lake Co. 4-H H&) Leaders Assoc., led by Alicia Molnar raised $1662 for Breast Cancer Research. The “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” theme was used and the group decorated riders, horses and stalls to bring greater awareness for Breast Cancer to the Lake County Fair.

Judy Bucholz Donation check
Judy Bucholz led a fundraiser for breast cancer research. Her group, the North American 40+ Touring Riders rallied to raise $1,000 for breast Cancer Research at Community Hospital. Pictured are Mindy Mendoza, Judy Bucholz, Dr. M. Nabil Shabeeb, Joe Bucholz and Mary Shields.


The Teamsters Local Union 710
The Teamsters Local Union 710, led by Mike Rossow donated $3,250 for breast cancer research. This fundraising activity was part of the annual Dan Aviles 3 on 3 basketball tournament held on Memorial Day. The group has donated to Community Cancer Research Foundation, Inc., for breast cancer research for the last 4 years.
